About

I am a graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Master of Journalism program. Before that I did an undergraduate degree in political science at the University of King’s College, Halifax. In third year I spent semesters at American University in Washington D.C., and Queen’s University in Kingston.

I have worked with PBS Frontline, CBC Radio and Television, The Globe and Mail, The Vancouver Sun, and Business in Vancouver Newspaper. I was awarded the Vancouver Sun David Baines Scholarship in Journalism, given to a student ‘with a focus in business news and demonstrating excellent potential as a journalist’. Besides business news, I have a passion for international affairs and environmental reporting.

I tell stories through writing, photography, sound and film.

I also very much enjoy cycling and the outdoors. After my undergraduate degree I devoted a year to racing bicycles. I wanted to see how far I could go in the sport and how much I could push myself. It was a painful and rewarding time.

Highlights while racing Cat. 1/2 included 1st at the AMP Road Criterium, 2nd at the Niagara Classic, 3rd at the Almont Roubaix, and 5th at the Italian Festival Grand Prix. A knee injury mid-way through the season ended hopes of better results. The highlight post-injury was finishing the 252km race from Montreal to Quebec City in a little over 5 hours with what was left of the peloton.
